Udupi, Nov 23: Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji, spiritual head of Puthige Math here, dedicated to the world the ninth branch of His Math, Venkatakrishna Vrindavan that has been established in Seattle city, USA, recently. This day coincided with the 60th birthday of the Swamiji and it was a divine coincidence.

America Sahyadri Kannada Sangha members and other Indian organizations as well as devotees ensured that the programme was efficiently organized and neatly managed. Prasanna Acharya, overseas coordinator of the Swamiji, said that this occasion has culminated in the realization of a five-year long dream of the devotees from Seattle. The branch Math, titled 'Venkatakrishna Vrindavan', has recently started functioning in the residence of a priest. Prasanna stated that two disciples of the Math will be stationed here for performing puja and catering to religious needs like performing Vedic rituals.

The Swamiji had taken part in the Deepavali festival here at San Jose. He had advised the devotees that oil bath is auspicious as Goddess Mahalaxmi's divine presence is felt and taking oil bath on Chaturdashi to appease Lord Krishna who slain Narakasura is auspicious for the people. He smeared oil on the people present, particularly the children.

He appealed to the central government to produce more and more Covid vaccine and supply the same to other countries, speaking at a virtual emergency meeting of global leaders held on Friday morning, which was presided over by the director general of World Health Organization, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyusus. His appeal to the Indian government came at the instance of the participants of the meeting.

The meeting felt that the second Covid wave was more intense because of neglect shown by the people and non-availability of vaccines in certain counties.
