Mysore, Nov 12: Leader of the opposition in the state assembly, Siddaramaiah, said that both the Congress and the JDS have decided to move no-confidence motions against assembly speaker, K G Bopaiah. He was speaking to reporters on Thursday November 11, after meeting disqualified local BJP MLA, Shankaralinge Gowda, who is indisposed, to enquire about his health condition.
“It has been decided to convene a special session of the assembly to move the above motion. The government has so far, not fixed dates for this session. Both the Congress and JDS have served notices on the government about their intentions,” he explained.
He accused the assembly speaker of acting like an agent and servant of the state Chief Minister. “Bopaiah has disqualified several MLAs unconstitutionally. It is true that the state High Court has upheld his decision. We are optimistic that the Supreme Court will give its verdict in favour of the disqualified legislators,” he said. Siddu also felt that the government is not in order in distributing saris to women under its ‘Bhagyalaxmi’ scheme.
