Fight, Don’t Flirt with JD(S): Congress Chief
Bangalore, Nov. 10: The newly appointed KPCC president, G. Parameswhar, has called upon Congress leaders and workers to revive the party in the state by fighting against the BJP and the Janata Dal (S). Addressing Congress workers on Wednesday, after taking charge as a KPCC president, Mr Parameshwar emphasised that there was a need to fight against both the BJP and the JD(S) to come to power in the State on its own.
The KPCC chief also asked leaders to forget their differences and fight together to bring back the Congress government which had served as the ‘voice’ for thousands of poor families and deprived classes.
Parameshwar stressed the need for ‘discipline’ to bring the Congress back to power in the state and said the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, had reposed faith on him to rebuild the party in the state.
He asked the partymen to get ready to face coming ZP and Taluk Panchayat elections as well as Assembly elections as the BJP Government led by B. S. Yeddyurappa might fall at any time.
The leader of opposition, Siddaramaiah, said that Yeddyurappa’s dream to continue as Chief Minister for 20 years would not come true. He said that the BJP government had about a dozen ministers who had criminal background. Several ministers had amassed wealth worth crores of rupees in a span of five to six years, he said. “Most of them would go to jail if the CBI investigates on their assets,” he said and challenged the BJP government to order a probe.
Siddaramaiah also came down heavily on BJP state president K. S. Eshwarappa for rejecting opposition criticism. “He does not have brains and if he does not mend his ways his supporters would teach him a lesson,” said the opposition leader.
He expressed full support to Parameshwar and said they would hoist the Congress flag in the Vidana Soudha after the next Assembly elections.
