Concepta Fernandes of AIR Mangalore Bags Programme Excellency Award

Mangalore, Nov 9: Concepta Fernandes, programme executive of All India Radio, Mangalore has won the third place in the state-level competitions for the year 2009-2010 in the category of documentary features.
The feature in Kannada regarding voluntary blood donation titled "Bindu Bindu Jeeva Sindhu" written and produced by her was broadcast on AIR Mangalore on September 30, 2010, on the eve of voluntary blood donation day. The highlight of the feature was the case-study of the Sharavu Shastry family of Mangalore, wherein all the 7 eligible adult members of the joint family (age group of 18 - 60 years) are regular donors.
Concepta Fernandes, a programme staff of AIR Mangalore has several awards to her credit in her career of 21 years. In the year 1990 she won a National Award for Konkani documentary on the folk percussion instrument 'gumot', in 1998 she won the top Programme Excellency Award for the production of Kannada play 'Bhinnamata' (script- renowned author K T Gatti), and in 2009 she won the second prize for Kannada documentary on legendary Konkani singer Wilfy Rebimbus (script - H R Alva).
