Mangaluru, Oct 28: On Sunday, October 24, a free fatty liver screening camp was conducted by SCS Hospital for the police department from 8 am to 6 pm. Nearly 65 police personnel opted for fatty liver screening. Liver disorders including fatty liver if not screened and treated in the initial stages can lead to long term disorders and permanent liver damage.
During screening, the doctors were able to find out significant information of high value and enable patients requiring medical intervention to seek help. The camp was led by Dr Chandrashekar J Sorake, consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist, SCS Hospital assisted by Dr Shalini, Dr Afridi and the hospital team. Free screening and consultation followed by an educative talk and presentation by the medical team of the hospital for the police personnel were the key highlights of the day.
The police personnel were very grateful to the doctors and SCS Hospital management for the counselling and free fatty liver screening which they found beneficial. The hospital plans to conduct a few more similar free camps for the benefit of the general public in the near future.
