Mumbai, Oct 28: Four people of notorious ‘tak tak’ gang of Meerut were arrested by Malad police recently.
The cops trailed the culprits for more than 20 kms before arresting them from Bandra to Malad.
These gang members used to approach the car borne people and knock on their window pane and divert their attention while the other members of the gang steal valuables from the vehicle.
A theft of similar nature was reported on October 1 from New Era junction where the members of this gang stole a mobile phone from a car after distracting the attention of the driver.
CCTV footage was analysed by Malad police for clues and came to know that the criminals used autorickshaw as a getaway vehicle.
The cops zeroed in on the autorickshaw driver and on inquiry came to know that the gang had engaged him temporarily to commit crime and they have left for Meerut.
The police kept a trap and asked the autorickshaw driver to inform them when the gang returns. On October 15, the gang returned back to Mumbai and the autorickshaw driver informed the cops promptly.
Unknown to the criminals malad police trailed the criminals who stole valuables from a motorist at Malad. When the motorist yelled at the gang members, the police caught them.
The accused are identified as Gulfam, Jabbar Kasar, Raja Pathan and Shanu Pathan.
