Udupi, Oct 27: As per the directions given by Renewable Energy Ministry of India, experts visited Udupi Municipality Council on the way to Neelavara Goshala on Wednesday October 27.
Karvalu bio-wastage processing plant has a capacity of generating electricity up to 3,000 units, said experts.
Experts from Energy ministry Lokendra Joshi and Rajesh Ayyappa Soor consulted Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Uday Shetty, commissioner, Sumithra Nayak, president, City Municipality Council, Lakshmi Manjunath, vice president, Girish Anchan, president, standing committee, and Sneha K S, environment engineer.
According to directions of the MLA, they visited to Karvalu wastage treatment plant and obtained detailed information.
The plant has the potential for generating energy by using organic wastage and the government of India is encouraging it. It is estimated that around 50 tons of bio-wastage is being collected here every day and about 3,000 units of electricity can be generated.
“A detailed project plan (feasibility report) will be prepared and submit to the government,” said Lokendra and Rajesh.
If a power generation plant is started in Udupi with the association of Central government, it would be useful for the public of the city.
