Mangalore: Fr Augustus Muller Fondly Remembered on His Death Centenary

Mangalore, Nov 1: Father Muller Charitable Institutions celebrated the death centenary (1910-2010) of its founder Fr Augustus Muller, SJ on Monday Nov 1.
On the occasion, the newly built hi-tech laundry at Father Mullers was inaugurated and the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new building for Father Muller College of Nursing was held. The Father Muller Museum was also inaugurated on the occasion.
Seemanth Kumar Singh, IPS, city commissioner of police, was the Chief Guest. Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, Bishop of Mangalore and chairman of FMCI presided.
Addressing the gathering Seemanth Kumar Singh, said that Fr Muller who was a homeopathic doctor never commercialised his profession. He served the society without expecting anything in return, he added.
Seemanth also called upon the students to follow the ideals of Fr Augustus Muller. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza in his presidential address said that the spirit of Fr Muller spreads the messages of Christ through love, care and service. Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director FMCI, Fr Denis D'Sa, administrator, FMMC, Richard Coelho, administrator, FMMCH, Fr Vincent Saldanha, Dr J P Alva, Dean, FMMC, Dr Sanjeeva Rai, Head, medical sciences, FMMC and Sr Jacinta D’Souza, prinicipal, nursing college among others were present.
Sr Jacintha Principal of Nursing College proposed the vote of thanks.
