London, Oct 22 (IANS): English singer-songwriter Adele's 'Easy On Me' has already been recognised for setting first-day records for Spotify streams and YouTube views. After a week of adds and airplay, 'Easy On Me' has broken several records on radio, including becoming the most played song in US radio history during a song's first week on air.
It's also the most-added song in the history of Mediabase, with 451 total stations that report to the service immediately putting it on their playlists, reports variety.com.
Getting to that number requires airplay on multiple formats, of course and Adele got there by setting yet another record.
'Easy On Me' became the first song to be the most-added at five different formats in a single week. Those formats are Top 40, AC (adult contemporary), Hot AC, AAA (adult album alternative) and R&B.
In two of those key formats, Top 40 and Hot AC, 'Easy On Me' pulled off a perfect launch, being added to every reporting station - a feat that is not wholly unprecedented but extremely rare. At Top 40, the song closed 179 out of 179 stations that report to the Mediabase chart, and at Hot AC, it went a flawless 94 for 94.
There's one more stat to add to the staggering list.
Adele's song is now the first ever to be certified for earning the No. 1 spin gain across five different formats in a single week (those same five aforementioned formats that had it as most-added for the week).
To break down the spins by format, according to Mediabase as of Thursday night: 'Easy On Me' had accumulated 3,290 plays at Top 40 stations, 1,488 at Hot AC outlets, 1,112 at AC, 98 at R&B and 91 at AAA.
Whether the song will keep this pace going remains to be seen, of course, and Adele has some big past numbers to live up to in the long run if she's competing with herself.
Historically, her biggest radio song among Mediabase-tracked stations was 2010's 'Rolling in the Deep', which over an 11-year period has racked up 89,000 total spins. Running behind that chartbuster, she's claimed 63,000 spins for 'Set Fire to the Rain' (released to radio in 2011), 51,000 for 'Hello' (the leadoff single to her previous album from 2015), 50,000 for 'Someone Like You' (2011) and 34,000 for 2015's 'Send My Love (To Your New Lover)'.
