Qatar, Oct 12: Indian Cultural Center (ICC) organized a Malhar musical journey under the leadership of youth unit of the association on the occasion of Independence Day (Azaad Ka Amrit Mahotsav) and Gandhi Jayanti.
The specialty of the programme was the participation of amateur musicians and traditional food stalls from all parts of India.
The programme was inaugurated by P N Babu Rajan, president of ICC. Mohan Kumar, coordinator of youth unit and member of administrative committee welcomed the gathering. Subramanya Hebbagilu, vice president of ICC gave the presidential address.
Representative of executive committee of youth unit Manjot spoke about the capabilities of youth. Abdulla Poyil, active member of executive committee rendered vote of thanks.
The musical journey started after lighting the traditional lamp by the advisor of administrative committee of ICC and members of the youth unit. Popular Bhajan of Mahathma Gandhi ‘Vaishnava Jan Tho’ was sung at the beginning of the programme.
Nivedya Menon was the MC for the music programme. She also compered the whole event.
Singers Muthu Latif, Harib Hussain, Aneesh Kumar, Mithili Shenoy and Reshma Ravindran attracted the attention of spectators through their melodious singing of Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil songs.
Ashoka auditorium was shining like a dance floor. During the closing of the event, spectators and youth danced to the tunes of music on the dais.
This was the first music programme that was held after relaxing Covid-19 restrictions in this gulf country.
K S Prasad, president of ICC advisory committee, Mahesh Gowda, former vice president of ICBF, Dr Amanullah Vadakkangara, chief of media, Dr Kareem, Rusiya group manager, local divisional manager of ABB and chief community worker Chandrashekhar Angadi were present.
