Mangalore, Oct 23: BJP leader Dhananjay Kumar slammed the opposition parties in the state for 'making a mockery of democracy' by indulging in 'unconstitutional political games' in the recent days.
At a press conference held here on Saturday October 23, he said that people had chosen BJP government with majority votes to govern for a period of five years. The opposition parties had started opposing the majority government right from its initial days thereby instilling a feeling of insecurity in the minds of the people in the state, he alleged.
Recently, the governor also had created some trouble but everything went on smoothly with the government proving its majority in the lower house, he said.
He also alleged that the elected representatives of the opposition parties do not want elections as they are not in a position to attract sympathy from the people. He criticized Kumaraswamy for making a public statement in the media that he had tried to hijack BJP MLAs.
He called upon the opposition to fight with reason and evade unconstitutional ways of behaviour.
He lamented the recent statement of Deve Gowda where the latter had voiced that the atmosphere in the Assembly is so foul that it is impossible to clean it with anything other than the scents of Arabia. Dhananjay Kumar criticized Gowda's 'immature' way of political approach even after having served as the Prime Minister of the nation.
He also said that he has got a clue as to the opposition parties' approach to the central government to conduct income tax raid operations in the state to defame the government, and added that high-profile people in the governing sectors have been targeted in the raids to slander the ruling party's reputation.
He expressed confidence that such feeble and frustrated acts of the Congress will receive appropriate answer from the people.
Answering a question by the media regarding why Renukacharya was taken back even after his dissidence, Dhananjay clarified that Renukacharya had not gone against party interests but had only tried to bring back the rebel MLAs to the party.
Mayor Rajani Dugganna and others were present.
