Mumbai Indians has been one of the best teams in the history of IPL. They have won the trophy five times, and if they win this year, it will be their third consecutive win. No other teams have any such records, which clearly shows the dominance of MI.
They are among the few teams that can bank on Indian players and have minimal dependency on overseas recruitment. The team has retained most of their old players and included Adam Milne, Jimmy Neesham, Marco Jansen, and Nathan Coulter-Nile in their overseas contention. Analysts at Betway believe that MI is looking quite good this time, and its eminent players can push the team to emerge winners in this season’s IPL.
Lineup of superior fast bowlers
MI has two of the best international fast bowlers namely, Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult. They can become real threats for any batsman. Bumrah is known for his abilities to hit yorkers, and his unconventional actions can make any world-class batsman come on their knees. Trent also performed quite well in the last season, picking up a total of 25 wickets. He was the third-highest wicket-taker of the tournament, and his experience can come in handy for the team.
Experienced spinners in the team
MI’s only concern for last season was that they did not have any experienced spinners in the team. Hence, they introduced Piyush Chawla. Rahul Chahar did not impress much in the last season, which was a letdown. Piyush was in the winning team KKR in 2012 and 2014, and his experience can be beneficial for MI.
Strong batting lineup
MI is known for its batting lineup. Quitman De Kock and Rohit Sharma are their opening batsmen, and both deliver a strong performance. They are followed by Surya Kumar and Ishan Kishan, who also performed great in the last season. The team also has a strong middle order with batsmen like Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, and Kieran Pollard. They are one of the world-class finishers who can rip off the strongest bowlers.
Excellent backup performers
One of the best things about the MI team is that they have some of the best backup players in each department. From bowling to batting, they have proper replacements waiting to take the game over. With names like Adithya Tare, Saurabh Tiwary and Chris Lynn, Marco Jansen, and others waiting to take flight, there is no way MI can falter in terms of its IPL performance this year as well.
Splendid captaincy by Rohit Sharma
Finally, one cannot deny the contribution of Rohit Sharma as a captain of the MI team. He captained his team to five IPL titles in a span of eight years which is a major accomplishment. The first title win was in 2013. He can handle pressure in challenging situations, which is a great quality for any captain. And his vision for fielder placement and team management in the face of challenges is outright commendable.
