Mangaluru, Sep 25: Union minister for AYUSH, ports, shipping and waterways Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday September 25 inaugurated the 90-bed government AYUSH ( multi-specialty hospital on the premises of Government Wenlock Hospital. The AYUSH (ayurveda, yoga and naturopathy, unani, siddha and homoeopathy) hospital has been constructed at a cost of Rs 9 crore.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the hospital, Sonowal said, "The AYUSH hospital has been constructed, but now the staff including doctors associated with this hospital must fulfil their responsibilities. In the future, the credibility, acceptability, and quality of this hospital should rise. Hence, to take this hospital to a certain height, you should work with special care."
Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sonowal said, "The hospital has been constructed. This is development. When the hospital is being run in the right way, patients are treated with care and all the staff give special priority to good service, then it will be good governance. If development and governance unite, people will benefit."
Sonowal termed that the medical profession as a noble profession. "This is an opportunity to serve patients. I believe that hospitals means happiness for the patient. If the staff in the hospital provide good hospitality and treat patients with good behavior and respect, then the patient will get tremendous relief and happiness. When the staff work with such a service-oriented mentality, the hospital will earn recognition globally."
Lauding the scenic beauty of Karnataka and particularly Mangaluru, Sonowal said that the people of the state and Mangaluru are blessed with nature's bounty. "There are no words to descibe nature's beauty," he said.
In his address, MLA Vedavyas Kamath urged the union minister to sanction an AYUSH Sports Medicine Complex to Mangaluru, like the AYUSH Sports Medicine Complex in Thrissur.
Responding to MLA's request, Sonowal said, "I cannot give false assurances to people. I do not like doing that. Hence, seeing the aspiration you have for an AYUSH Sports Medicine Complex, I will take it positively and try my best to make it a reality."
MLC Prathap Simha Nayak, mayor Premananda Shetty, zilla panchayat CEO Kumar, district AYUSH officer Dr Mohammed Iqbal and others were present.
