It is apparent that after relaxation of the lockdown, chain snatching and motorbike thefts have increased. In the year 2018, a racket of two-wheeler thefts had become active. The then Bunder police inspector, Yogeesh, had busted the racket and arrested six persons from Kasargod and Kanhangad. During investigation, it was found that the stolen bikes were sold to a garage owner at Kanhangad for nominal prices. The garage owner used to change the shape of the bike including the number plate and sold them for a much higher price.
People before parking their two-wheelers, have to take the following precautions:
1. Never forget to take away keys of the vehicle after parking.
2. Apply handlock of the vehicles.
3. Park in public places and observe the safety aspects.
4. It is better to park where CCTV cameras are installed as the thieves keep an eye on the presence of cameras before stealing.
5. Never leave behind registration certificate, insurance, pollution certificate etc inside the vehicles.
