Davanagere, Sep 21: Three members of a single family ended their lives together due to financial crisis and ill health. The deceased have been identified as Krishna Naik (43), his wife, Saraswati Bai (35) and their son, Dhruv (8). They were members of a family living in Shekharappa Nagar B Block, Davanagere.
While Krishna Naik was found hanging, his son and wife were found lying down. The mother-son duo is suspected to have consumed poison. The incident happened during late night hours on Sunday.
Krishna Naik was a lorry driver. He had lost his job recently and therefore was going through financial crisis. In the meanwhile, Saraswati suffered from piles and Krishna Naik was diagnosed with tuberculosis. As they did not have money to get treatment from hospitals, the family members grew frustrated with life and hence ended their lives, it is said. Their mortal remains were kept in the district hospital and a case was registered in RMC police station in the city.
Krishna Naik and family led a simple, mutually supporting life within their means. Dhruv was a student of New Delhi Public School. Even though the ailments of the couple were not grave, they were overcome by emotions about the problems they were facing. Krishna Naik had taken his wife to different hospitals but her ailment did not show signs of improvement, it is learnt.
Corporator Shivaprakash, said he knew Krishna Naik for the last two decades and that the family was facing financial problems after Naik recently lost his job. He said that no one helped the family at this crucial time.
