Bantwal, Sep 21: A woman, who reportedly was frustrated with her life, ended her life by jumping into a pond in Kolnadu village near here. The incident happened on Monday September 20.
The victim was Parvathi (56), a resident of Madakatte in Kolnadu village.
Parvathi was suffering from mental depression and for that purpose, had visited a hospital in Mangaluru and was prescribed certain medicines. She was consuming these medicines. She was alone at her home on Monday as her health was indifferent. In the afternoon, her family members were surprised to notice on their return that Parvathi was not to be seen at her home. They went searching for the woman and found Parvathi's footwear and spectacles on the side of the pond. Out of suspicion, they searched in the pond and found the mortal remains of Parvathi.
In a report filed at Vittal police station in the taluk, the family members stated that Parvathi was deeply agonised by the fact that medicines she was consuming for her mental depression was not healing her condition. She was frustrated with her life on this issue and therefore decided to end her life and jumped into a pond located inside the family farm, they said.
