Bengaluru, Sep 18: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Chief D K Shivakumar on Saturday asked all unemployed graduates to send their degree certificates to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday to remind him about his unkept promise of creating 2 crore jobs every year.
Observing Modi’s birthday as ‘unemployment day’ in response to the call given by the All India Congress Committee (AICC), the KPCC President wanted the unemployed youth to register their protests by sending their degree certificates to the Prime Minister.
Shivakumar said it was the duty of all politicians to keep their promises if they really believed in democracy. That should be our policy and attitude. When we enter public life, we must keep our words. This has been the policy and advice by all sages, including Basavanna, he said.
The Congress leader said Modi had promised to create 2 crore jobs every year. “Even if creating 2 crore government jobs may not be possible, his government should have created the necessary facilities to enable the private sector to create 2 crore jobs in the private sector. But most of the small and medium industries are closing down and big automobile majors are leaving India. This is the Modi regime’s achievement,’’ he said.
Shivakumar said apart from the Modi government’s failures to create 2 crore jobs annually, the country lost 2 crore jobs during the Covid period and the situation is very bad and crores of people have lost their lives and livelihood, he said and wanted the youth to remind Modi about his government’s failures.
