Bengaluru, Sep 18: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr K Sudhakar have heartily praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for constantly helping Karnataka for its record achievement of administering 29 lakh doses of vaccines in the State on Friday.
They have also complimented Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya for ensuring greater supplies of vaccine doses to the State.
“The State could achieve administering 29 lakh doses out of the target of 30 lakh doses on a single day on Friday to mark the Prime Minister’s birthday and achieve a record,’’ the Chief Minister said in a tweet profusely thanking Modi.

Dr K Sudhakar, who is also the State’s Medical Education Minister, said Karnataka accounted for 11% of the total vaccination in the country on Friday and pointed out that about 1.68 lakh doses are yet to be recorded on Cowin portal. "This is a unique feat,’’ he said.
Speaking to the media, the minister said Karnataka wanted to celebrate Prime Minister’s birthday ‘in a meaningful manner with an accelerated special vaccination drive’.
“Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai fully supported the initiative and we had set a target to clock 30 lakh jabs. As of 8:30 AM on Saturday 29,50,093 doses have been administered and another 1.68 lakh doses are yet to be recorded in portal which takes the total count to 31 lakh doses. Karnataka accounted for 11% of the total doses administered in the country on Friday,’’ he mentioned.
By inoculating 62,003 persons for every 10 lakh eligible population Karnataka stands first in the entire country. As many as 14,401 vaccination centres were set up across the State and on an average 205 doses were administered in each centre. In the State, 14 districts have achieved more than the target and only 4 districts have achieved 75% of the target, said minister.
With 4.09 lakh doses, BBMP has administered the highest jabs in the country. 2.57 lakh doses have been administered in Belagavi. About 14.96 jabs were administered to women while 14.53 lakh men were inoculated.
“Cumulatively, the State has administered more than 5 crore doses and the last 1 crore has been achieved in just 20 days. More than 1 crore people are fully vaccinated with both the doses,’’ explained the minister.
Blood, Organ Donation
On Friday, the minister said a mega blood donation drive was conducted and 5,201units of blood were collected of which 1,240 units, 298 units and 295 units were collected in BBMP, Ballari and Dakshina Kannada respectively. There is demand for blood for about 1% of the population in the State.
In order to promote organ donation, the State Government has decided to start dedicated organ donation cells in all medical colleges and district hospitals.
The Chief Miniser will soon launch a special drive to create awareness about organ donation. Target will be set to ensure distribution of Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka cards to all eligible in three months, said Dr Sudhakar.
Vision Report
Dr Sudhakar said the comprehensive vision report prepared by 250 experts will be handed over to Prime Minister by the Chief Minister and Modi will launch the vision report.
He said one person has been subjected to Nipah test and he kept in isolation.
BJP does not need lessons from Congress on protecting Hinduism. BJP has been fighting for it from decades. If there are any lapses it will be rectified, the minister added.
