Bengaluru, Sep 17: At a time when coronavirus infections showed an increasing trend in Bengaluru, the figure came down to zero in some districts.
The corona cases in the district have been in two or three digits. However, dengue has taken over the mantle from coronavirus and it has been spreading fast. As against 139 dengue cases reported from the district till the end of September last year, the number has already touched 302 this time.
Continued rainfall has been one of the major reasons for the swelling infections. The coast of Karnataka is experiencing rainfall even in the middle of September, which has facilitated the spread of dengue. Highest cases were reported in June, July and August this year. The cases of dengue reported in June, July and August were 108, 107 and 76 respectively. The district has witnessed such a high number of dengue cases for the first time after 2017.
