Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 12: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday, Sep 12 reported 153 new coronavirus cases and two deaths, while Udupi registered 87 new cases and one death.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 16,79,546 samples have been tested so far, out of which 15,67,200 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,12,346 out of which 1,732 are currently active.
As many as 231 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday.
The district recorded two deaths due to coronavirus on Sunday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,612.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,05,96,270 as fine in 87,041 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 10,47,147 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 87 new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 75,127 out of which 1,501 are currently active.
A total of 58 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday.
Out of 87 new patients, 69 are in home isolation while 18 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 87 cases, as many as 50 are symptomatic and 37 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 49 new cases, Kundapur registered 20 and Karkala 14 and four case were from out of district.
Coronavirus has claimed 459 lives in the district so far.
So far 8,31,729 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 3,10,509 have received the second dose.
A total of 52 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
