Shivamogga, Sep 8: Sangeetha and her daughter, Madhushree (11) hanged themselves at their home on the night of Monday September 6. They were the residents of Bhadravathi in the district.
It is said that Dhanashekhar was earning his livelihood by undertaking sale of spices, biscuits and other such things. Because of coronavirus -induced lockdowns, his business had faced problems. He had borrowed money from various sources. He had dues of about Rs 16 lac in banks and about four lac more raised from known people. He was unable to repay the debt.
As the people often approached Dhanashekhar's wife and pressured her to clear the loan, she was feeling insulted and humiliated, it is said. Frustrated by the thought of having to lead a life of disrespect and loan burden, she ended her life along with her daughter by hanging at her home.
