Bengaluru, Aug 28: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the State Government would take necessary steps for increasing the height of the Almatti dam to 524 ft.
Speaking to reporters at Hirekeruru during his visit to Haveri district on Saturday, the Chief Minister said he would be consulting legal and technical experts on the measures to be taken for increasing the dam’s height.
“The matter is pending before the Supreme Court,’’ he said promising to urge the Union Government to ensure that the Krishna Water Dispute Tribunal’s award was notified at the earliest.
Rs 256 cr projects get underway
The Chief Minister flew to Haveri district by helicopter in the afternoon for initiating several developmental projects in the district at a total cost of Rs 256 crore.
Bommai inaugurated 9 different development projects in Ranebennur taluk at a cost of Rs 62.24 crore and laid the foundation stone for two other projects at a cost of Rs 11.06 crore.
Agriculture Minister B C Patil, Water Resources Minister Govind M Karjol, BJP MP Shivakumar Udasi and State Warehousing Corporation Chairman U B Banakar participated in the function held at the Ranebennur Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee grounds.
