Mangaluru, Aug 18: Manoj Shetty and his friend, Dinesh Amin, had in 2011, cajoled a girl student of the higher primary school at Sidharth Nagar here, to accompany them in an auto rickshaw. The girl was from Muchchoor Neerude.
The two friends had taken the girl home, raped her there, and threatened her not to reveal the incident to others.
Main accused, Manoj B Shetty, was arrested by a team of Bajpe police led by police inspector, Sandesh P G.
Manoj, who was named as the first accused in the case, was residing for the last about ten years in Kannadikatte and Melantabettu in Beltangady taluk by changing his identity as Mohan. The court has already imposed seven years rigorous imprisonment and Rs 10,000 fine on the second accused, Dinesh Amin.
