Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 14: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday, Aug 14 reported 411 new coronavirus cases and seven deaths, while Udupi registered 169 new cases and one death.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 13,90,269 samples have been tested so far, out of which 12,84,736 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,05,333 out of which 3,682 are currently active.
As many as 371 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.
The district recorded seven deaths due to coronavirus on Saturday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,497.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,03,01,970 as fine in 84,663 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 8,48,408 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 169 new cases were reported on Saturday, taking the total number of cases to 71,641 out of which 1,296 are currently active.
A total of 146 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.
Out of 169 new patients, 134 are in home isolation while 35 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 169 cases, as many as 112 are symptomatic and 57 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 98 new cases, Kundapur registered 25 and Karkala 43 and three cases were from out of district.
Coronavirus has claimed 433 lives in the district so far, including one on Saturday. The person who died on Saturday was from Udupi.
So far, 5,61,597 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 2,05,641 have received the second dose.
A total of 51 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 7 are currently active.
