As per the details of the whole episode, accused Mohammed is sick and his family members have deserted him. This came to the notice of social worker Asif. He went to Addoor, native place of accused Mohammed and got him admitted to an orphanage at Karnad at Mulki. He is being treated there for three months.
Police approached caretaker Asif and asked him to produce Mohammed to court in connection with a case. Though Asif explained the health condition of the accused, the police did not budge and forced Asif to produce the accused to court on Thursday.
Asif brought accused Mohammed on a stretcher in an ambulance to the court on Thursday. He was produced before the judge in supine condition on the stretcher itself. The judge who considered the serious health condition of the accused got furious on the police and said, “What was the necessity to produce the accused in such sick condition to the court? Why have you exerted pressure? If you explained the actual condition of the accused it was enough.”
Later, Asif took accused Mohammed back to the orphanage in an ambulance. Lawyer Farooq who saw the pitiable condition of the accused, has assured to take up his case in court free of cost in the coming days.
