Udupi, Aug 10: Udupi deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha on Tuesday August 10 said, "A month ago, measures were taken to prevent the spread of the third wave of Covid. Under the Vatsalya programme, health checkup was conducted for 2.40 lac children. Nutritious food is being provided to the children who are suffering from malnutrition with regard to preventing the third wave affecting children."
He further said, “Already a meeting has been conducted with health experts regarding how to control the situation during the third wave. We have gathered opinions from experts. The district administration has taken measures to increase the number of beds in ICU. Nirmithi Kendra has been directed to look into the matter.
“There is an oxygen production unit in Karkala. Within one week, an oxygen production plant will start functioning in Kundapur, and another oxygen production unit will function in Udupi district hospital within two days. Measures have been taken to prevent any kind of inconveniences in hospitals in the district.
“We have already arranged enough ventilators for the children. In case additional ventilators are required, arrangements will be made very soon,” the DC said.
