Mangaluru, Aug 9: Two young men from Pajeeru village in Bantwal taluk have started their 'Walk and Drop' tour from Talapady to Kashmir. They plan to study things during this mission.
Muhammed Mehtab and Muhammed Bilal began their journey six days back from Talapdy. Mehtab works in a supermarket while Bilal, after completing SSLC, was not doing anything due to lockdown. Both of them thought of undertaking the trip during the coronavirus period. They started their journey after obtaining consent from family members from Talapady.
Initially they will go to Kanyakumari from Talapady from where they will go to Kashmir by foot. On the way, they will be seeking lifts from vehicles which go by, and if they agree, go with them to the distance possible. They cover about a hundred kilometres every day and if they cannot get any vehicle, they tread 50 kilometres per day. They pitch a tent and start their journeys again the next morning.
Mehtab said that they reached Kochi on Sunday and would leave for Kanyakumari on Monday. They expect to reach Kanyakumari in six to seven days, after which their Kashmir visit will begin. They said initially there was a problem in getting the facility to stay overnight because of covid19 threat. However, the police, after learning about their mission, permitted them to stay, he stated.
