Sullia, Aug 8: In a tragic incident, a woman lost her life while trying to save her drowning child at Kemraje, Nellur here on Sunday August 8.
Both the child and the mother died in the incident.
The deceased have been identified as Sangeeta (30) and her son Abhimanyu (3), residents of Kemraje.

Sangeeta and her son were on their way to visit a neighbour when Abhimanyu suddenly slipped and fell into a pond. Without a second thought, Sangeeta jumped into the water to rescue him, but as she did not know to swim, she got drowned along with the child.
When they did not return home, the family members started a search and found one of the footwear near the pond. It was then that the incident came to light.
While Sangeeta's body has been brought out from the pond, search is on to locate the child.
Sangeeta lived with her husband in Melkar. She was on a visit to her parental house in Kemraje, sources said.
Sullia police have registered a case.
