Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 5: Dakshina Kannada on Thursday, Aug 3 reported 337 new coronavirus cases and three deaths, while Udupi registered 134 new cases and two deaths.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 13,00,486 samples have been tested so far, out of which 11,98,493 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,01,933 out of which 3,213 are currently active.

As many as 213 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday.

The district recorded three deaths due to coronavirus on Thursday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,452.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,00,79,617 as fine in 82,994 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 8,01,951 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 134 new cases were reported on Thursday, taking the total number of cases to 70,451 out of which 1,332 are currently active.

A total of 79 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday.

Out of 134 new patients, 117 are in home isolation while 17 are in Covid-designated hospitals.

Among the 134 cases, as many as 93 are symptomatic and 41 are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 75 new cases, Kundapur registered 25 and Karkala 31 and 3 were from out if district.

Coronavirus has claimed 422 lives in the district so far, including two on Thursday. The persons who died on Thursday were from Udupi and Karkala.

So far, 5,33,294 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 1,86,381 have received the second dose.

A total of 49 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 8 are currently active.
