Riyadh, Aug 5: Farasan Island governorate of the kingdom started its first sea ambulance service on Wednesday, August 4. The service was inaugurated by governor of Jazan province Prince Mohammed bin Nasser bin Abdul Aziz.
The ultra modern sea ambulance service that is worth SR 13.6 million ($3.6 million). Dr Awaji Al-Naami, health director briefed the prince about the features of the ambulance.
The sea ambulance has a ICU bed and four other beds, a shock absorbent stretcher which can adapt to high waves and other rough weather conditions of sea, a CPR device, a suction device and emergency care medicines.
This ambulance can ferry people in emergency cases within minutes from the Farasan Island to Jazan port. There are smart systems built in the ambulance which will monitor the movement of the sea ambulance in the sea till it reaches the port. The prince was briefed on the process of handling emergencies.
This ambulance service is part of the efforts of the health ministry to provide health services to nationals as well as residents of the Island.
