Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 4: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, Aug 4 reported 350 new coronavirus cases and six deaths, while Udupi registered 140 new cases and two deaths.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 12,91,414 samples have been tested so far, out of which 11,89,758 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,01,656 out of which 3,092 are currently active.
As many as 212 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.
The district recorded six deaths due to coronavirus on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,449.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,00,66,617 as fine in 82,871 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 7,95,192 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 140 new cases were reported on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases to 70,317 out of which 1,279 are currently active.
A total of 124 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.
Out of 140 new patients, 129 are in home isolation while 11 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 140 cases, as many as 92 are symptomatic and 48 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 69 new cases, Kundapur registered 41 and Karkala 30.
Coronavirus has claimed 420 lives in the district so far, including two on Wednesday. The two person dead are from Udupi and Karkala
So far, 5,32,408 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 1,85,888 have received the second dose.
A total of 49 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 8 are currently active.
