Puttur, Sep 20: President of the Undivided Dakshina Kannada District Petroleum Products Distribuitors Association, Vishwas Shenoy, said that the proposed indefinite closure of petrol bunks all over the country with effect from September 20 has been withdrawn. He added that in tune with the decision taken at the national level, the petrol bunks in the undivided Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts will operate as usual.
The protest had been proposed to be held in support of the demand of the distributors of petroleum products to raise the commission payable to them on the products sold. Shenoy said the discussions held by the Confederation of All India Petroleum Distributors with the officials of the ministry of petroleum in New Delhi, has succeeded. “The ministry has agreed to form a committee to look into our demands and make suitable recommendations within three months to the ministry. In view of this, the strike has been called off,” he explained.
