Karkala, Aug 4: Town police have arrested a youth for allegedly sexually harassing a minor girl.
The arrested youth is identified as Imran (24), a resident of Gulwadi. Police have booked the accused under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) and IT Act. Child protection unit legal officer Prabakar Achar has filed a complaint with the police that accused Imram used to sexually harass the 12-year-old victim. Under the guidance of police inspector Sampath Kumar, sub Inspector Madhu arrested the accused.
The victim has been sent to a rehabilitation center. Counsellor Ambika, activist Yogish, Karkala town police station officer Shyam, Ravindra and others were present.
As per the direction of Child Welfare Committee president Ronald Furtado, a total rehabilitation facility was arranged for the victim.
