Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 3: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday Aug 3 reported 307 new coronavirus cases and nine deaths, while Udupi registered 104 new cases and one death.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 12,82,820 samples have been tested so far, out of which 11,81,514 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,01,306 out of which 2,960 are currently active.
As many as 286 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.
The district recorded nine deaths due to coronavirus on Tuesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,443.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,00,56,217 as fine in 82,768 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 7,89,490 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 104 new cases were reported on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 70,177 out of which 1,265 are currently active.
A total of 76 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.
Out of 104 new patients, 86 are in home isolation while 18 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 104 cases, as many as 71 are symptomatic and 33 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 43 new cases, Kundapur registered 40 and Karkala 20 and 1 was from out if district.
Coronavirus has claimed 418 lives in the district so far, including one on Tuesday. The person who died on Tuesday from Mangalore.
So far, 5,32,408 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 1,85,888 have received the second dose.
A total of 49 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 8 are currently active.
