Mangalore, Sep 19: The annual feast of Holy Cross Parish, Cordel, Kulshekar, here was held with much religious fervour on Sunday September 19 morning.
Fr Joseph Martis, rector of St Joseph’s Seminary, Jeppu, here was the main celebrant of festal Holy Mass, who celebrated along with other celebrants Cordel parish priest Fr Valerian Pinto, assistant parish priests Fr Arun Lobo and Fr John Monis and Kallianpur Milagres High School principal Fr Edwin Pinto among others.
Fr Edwin Pinto, in his homily laid emphasis on the devotion to Holy Cross in all the trials and tribulations of daily living. The prayers to Jesus Christ on the cross will sustain the faith and confidence, in order to carry on living, despite the setbacks and failures. He cited through the examples how the great spiritualists were enlightened to author masterpieces of literature, purely by spending many hours on meditating on the mysteries of Holy Cross that symbolizes the triumphant from sufferings and evils on Easter.
Fr Valerian Pinto thanked the congregation of faithful who attended the festal Holy Mass in large numbers.
Fr Valerian also urged the faithful to pray for the success of centenary jubilee celebration of consecration of Cordel church, which will be held during 2011 – 2012. The Cordel Church was consecrated by the late Monsignor Paul Perini SJ, Bishop of Mangalore diocese during 1911.
The Cordel Parish Council vice-president Victor Vaz, secretary George D’Souza was also present. The Cordel parish council former vice-president Susheel Noronha led the celebrations.
