Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Aug 3: Coronavirus infections are on the rise in the state. The number of infections in Dakshina Kannada (DK) district is rising due to more cases in neighbouring state of Kerala.

The infections are mainly noticed in cities. Out of the 20 towns of the state where the Covid infection is on the rise four are from Dakshina Kannada, three are from Uttara Kannada, two each from Kodagu and Belagavi and one each from Chitradurga, Chikkamagaluru, Bellary, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Udupi and Kolar.

Koppal has the highest rate of infection at 1100%, Harihara of Davanagere has 750%, Hukkeri of Belagavi has 500%, Yellapur of Uttara Kannada is having 333% while Mallur of Kolar is at 260%. If the coastal districts are leading in detecting infections in villages, towns of North Karnataka are ahead in detecting new cases in towns.

Kotekar, Bantwal, Sullia and Puttur in the district of Dakshina Kannada are hot spots of Covid. Sirsi and Karwar in Uttara Kannada, Kushalnagar and Madikeri in Kodagu, Hiriyur of Chitradurga, Kalaburagi, Bidar, Kundapur in Udupi, Bellary, Raibag in Belagavi and N R Pura in Chikkamagaluru are also termed as Covid hot spots.

The utter callousness for political gains ( appeasement) by the government of Kerala has created an unprecedented rise in Covid19 cases, especially in DK district.....

Time for Udupi, Chikamagaluru, Hassan and Kodagu to close their borders with Dakshina Kannada district to prevent spread.🥴 The earlier it is done , better prevention of spread. Entry only on negative rTPCR report in last 72 hrs. After this taluk level border closure 🥴

Also teachers and staff. Govt focusing entirely on first dose which provides only 30% protection also fully vaccinated can STILLspread the virus.
