Udupi: Leopard creating panic among villagers trapped after a month

Udupi, Jul 23: The leopard that was causing panic in the village of Pernankila since a month, was finally caught by the forest department personnel.

Due to the continuous sighting of the leopard, the villagers of Pernankila were scared to go out. The forest department officials had placed a trapping cage in the farm of Ashok Nayak of Gundupade nearly 20 days ago.

The leopard got trapped in the cage on Friday July 23.

This is the third leopard that was caught in the village of Pernankila. Leopard menace is on the rise in this part of Hiriadka since 11 years. The villagers had urged the forest department officials to trap the leopard. Many a times, school going children also came across the leopard.

With the animal was caught, the villagers are now heaving a sigh of relief.
