Bengaluru, Jul 23: Three police personnel including a lady inspector who hoisted a fake case against an innocent person for his refusal to pay bribe, and a sub-inspector who tried to perform a sting operation against the deputy commissioner of police who was conducting internal inquiry in this case, have been suspended from service by the city police commissioner, Kamal Pant.

Inspector Parvathamma, sub-inspector Anjinappa and another policeman had demanded bribe from a street vendor. As he refused to oblige, he was forced to use a cigarette containing ganja, and then a ganja consumption case was registered against him. Frustrated by this, the man had attempted suicide.

After allegations against the police surfaced in the case, an internal inquiry was ordered. On this occasion, sub-inspector Anjinappa, tried to fix the deputy commissioner of police conducting an inquiry in the case through a sting operation. But he was nabbed when doing this. In the internal enquiry, the charges made against the trio was confirmed. Based on the report, the three have been suspended from service.
