Kasargod, Jul 23: A man who was asleep at his home was murdered on the night of Wednesday July 21. Relating to the murder, the police have arrested three persons, one of whom is the victim's wife.
The incident happened at Pilikkod Madivayal within Chandera police station limits. Kunhambu (66) from Madivayal was murdered in this case. His wife Janaki, and relatives V Rajesh and Anil, have been arrested. The police, who took the trio into custody, subjected them to intense questioning before arresting them on Thursday night.

Kunhambu was infected with Covid19 disease. He also was paralyzed and was bedridden. The arrested persons confessed that the man was murdered late night on Wednesday after realizing that it was impossible to look after him.
On Wednesday night, an ambulance driver got an anonymous call saying that a person from Madivayal was in a serious condition and that he needs to be taken to hospital immediately. When the driver returned the call, the mobile phone had been switched off. The driver became suspicious and informed the people of the area. The neighbours found that Kunhambu was no more. Injury marks were found in his neck. It also was found that blood stains on the floor were cleaned. When the man's wife Janaki, was questioned out of suspicion, she said her husband had suffered injuries due to fall from the cot.
Chandera police were informed about the incident. The police visited the spot, conducted enquiries, and got the post-mortem of the body done at Kannur government medical college. The tests confirmed that the man was killed by strangulating him.
The police had information that two others had visited the house of the deceased on Wednesday night. Based on this information, Janaki and her two relatives were taken into custody and questioned. During the questioning the police realised that this was a case of murder.
