Mangaluru, Jul 22: Sources from the family of Oscar Fernandes informed that false information is being disseminated regarding health status on a few websites and social media and also that Oscar is still under treatment in ICU at Yenepoya Hospital in the city.

The family, dismissing all rumours said that Oscar is in critical condition and under treatment. They have urged not to spread rumours over his health condition.

DCP Hariram Shankar informed that false messages are being spread regarding health status of Oscar Fernandes. “He is under medical care in ICU in Yenepoya Hospital. Any other messages are false and misguided,” he said.

AICC sources have informed Daijiworld that the Oscar Fernandes family will file a criminal case and proceed on a suit for defamation against those websites and social media pages who are spreading false and misleading information regarding the health status of Oscar Fernandes.

The sources in the hospital also confirmed that the former minister is under treatment in the ICU.

It may be recalled, Oscar was admitted into a private hospital here after he suffered head injury due to fall when practising Yoga at his home. His health condition is said to be precarious.

Oscar is currently availing treatment in the ICU at Yenepoya Hospital in the city. While he had been for routine dialysis, he underwent a check-up for a severe headache. As he had internal injuries, he was admitted to the ICU in the hospital. A plethora of senior Congress leaders including former chief minister Siddaramaiah and State Congress chief D K Shivakumar, have visited the 80-year-old Congress veteran.
