Jul 22: Dakshina Kannada reports 229 corona cases and three deaths; 82 new infections in Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 22: Dakshina Kannada on Thursday, July 22 reported 229 new coronavirus cases and three deaths, while Udupi registered 82 new cases.
 
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 12,06,140 samples have been tested so far, out of which 11,08,496 have turned out to be negative.
 
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 97,644, out of which 1,967 are currently active. As many as 215 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday.
 
 
 
The district recorded three deaths due to coronavirus on Thursday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,384. The positivity rate in the district has come down to 3.18%.
 
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
 
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 99,19,517 as fine in 81,442 incidents of mask violation.
 
Udupi
 
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 7,51,553 samples have been tested so far.
 
A total of 82 new cases were reported on Thursday, taking the total number of cases to 68,643, out of which 834 are currently active. A total of 94 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday.
 
Out of 82 new patients, 71 are in home isolation while 11 are in Covid-designated hospitals. Among the 82 cases, as many as 60 are symptomatic and 22 are asymptomatic.
 
While Udupi reported 44 new cases, Kundapur registered 11 and Karkala 26, and one was from outside the district.
 
Coronavirus has claimed 408 lives in the district so far. So far, 4,89,653 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 1,66,296 have received the second dose.
 
A total of 43 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 11 are currently active

    Cinema halls,Temples and Tourist spots should not opened for 2 or 3 months.Vaccinations should be increased...Also mass testing should be done in karnataka and Strict Genome sequencing should be done to check the new variants.Strict Mass testing,Tracking and treatment,genomic servillance and vaccination are the only way to end this pandemic.Also covid protocol masking and distancing are also necessary.

    Though Karnataka has reported 1653 cases in the 31 districts, 418 in Bangalore Urban and 229 in DK is really alarming I think, people of Bangalore and DK should take the situation seriously and take proper measures.
