Mangaluru, Jul 21: Minister for backward classes welfare and Hindu religious endowments, Kota Srinivas Poojary, who also happens to be the district in-charge minister for Dakshina Kannada, said that steps have already been taken to build cultural centres (Bhavan) for Tulu, Beary and Konkani in phases.
He was speaking at a meeting held with the presidents of Tulu, Beary and Konkani academies on the issue of construction of these centres. The meeting was held at the auditorium of the deputy commissioner's office here.
Poojary stated that in addition to the district theatre, grant for Tulu, Beary and Konkani cultural centre constructions have already been released and that the concerned have given their approval for their constructions.
Five crore rupees in the first phase for the construction of the district theatre, Rs 3.5 crore for Tulu Bhavan construction in the second phase, and three crore rupees for Konkani and Tulu Academy Bhavans in the first phase have been released, he revealed.
Deputy commissioner Dr Rajendra K V, MLA Dr Bharath Shetty, sub-divisional officer Madan Mohan, Tulu Academy president Dayanand Kattalsar, Beary Academy president Rahim Uchil, Konkani Academy president Dr Jagadish Pai, Kannada and cultural department assistant director Rajesh, tahsildars and other officials were present.
