Bengaluru, Jul 21: Kannada and culture minister, Aravind Limbavali, said that the list of Tulu script that was drawn by experts unanimously and approved by Tulu Sahitya Academy to Unicode design.
The minister said that the academy has been asked to include Tulu script that has been carefully prepared after studying the historic documents, to Unicode list. He said that with this, the process of Tulu script getting officially included in the Unicode has gained momentum. He said that discussions had been held for the last ten years about creating Tulu script and final approval was given to include the approved script to Unicode list.

"The Indian Institute of Languages Mysuru had been requested by the government to verify and approve the Tulu script list. The institute had formed a committee of linguists, which discussed and approved the list. It has recommended to include this script to Unicode Consortium. As such, Kannada and culture department has written to Tulu Academy accordingly, he revealed.
Tulu Sahitya Academy led by its president Dayanand Kattalsar has thanked Limbavali for taking this measure.
