Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 20: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday, July 20 reported 200 new coronavirus cases and three deaths, while Udupi registered 69 new cases and one death.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 11,90,308 samples have been tested so far, out of which 10,93,083 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 97,225, out of which 1,912 are currently active.
As many as 215 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.
The district recorded three deaths due to coronavirus on Tuesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,375.
The positivity rate in the district has come down to 3.56%.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 98,95,417 as fine in 81,214 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 7,41,726 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 69 new cases were reported on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 68,457, out of which 787 are currently active.
A total of 114 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.
Out of 69 new patients, 53 are in home isolation while 16 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 69 cases, as many as 57 are symptomatic and 12 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 30 new cases, Kundapur registered 21 and Karkala 13, and five was from outside the district.
Coronavirus has claimed 407 lives in the district so far, including one on Tuesday. The person who died on Tuesday was from Udupi.
So far, 4,86,860 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 163,357 have received the second dose.
A total of 43 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 11 are currently active.
