Bantwal: Drug peddler arrested, scooter, ganja seized

Bantwal, Jul 19: Town police station personnel who were on rounds intercepted a drug peddler at Kandoor, Sajipamannur, carrying ganja from Mudipu to Melkar on his scooter.

The arrested is Iliyas (36), a resident of Sajipamooda here. He confessed during questioning that he had ganja in his possession. Plastic packets containing ganja were found in his pockets and in scooter storage. Scooter, ganja weighing 1,430 grams and ten small packets of strips used for consumption of ganja were seized. The total worth of the items is said to be around Rs 80,000.

The operation was conducted by Bantwal town police inspector Cheluvaraju, sub inspector Avinash, ASI Girish, Bantwal DySP special team members Udaya Rai, Pravin M, Prashanth, Irshad P, Gonibasappa, Kumar H K and Vivek Raghavendra under orders from Bantwal police assistant SP Valentine D’Souza and directions from SP Rishikesh Bhagavan Sonawane and additional SP Bhasker Okkaliga.

The district SP has praised the arrest and announced a prize.
