Jul 18: DK reports 241 corona cases and 6 deaths; 105 new infections in Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 18: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday July 4 reported 241 new coronavirus cases and six deaths, while Udupi registered 105 new cases and one death.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 11,79,647 samples have been tested so far, out of which 10,82,748 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 96,899, out of which 2,016 are currently active.

As many as 199 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 93,515.

The district recorded six deaths due to coronavirus on Sunday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,368, out of which two are non-Covid deaths.

The positivity rate in the district has come down to 3.13%.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 98,71,017 as fine in 81,031 incidents of mask violation.


Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 7,36,267 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 105 new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 68,303, out of which 864 are currently active.

A total of 105 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 67,034.

Out of 105 new patients, 96 are in home isolation while 9 are in Covid-designated hospitals.

Among the 105, as many as 78 are symptomatic and 27 asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 47 new cases, Kundapur registered 31 and Karkala 26, and one was from outside the district.

Coronavirus has claimed 405 lives in the district so far, including one on Sunday. The person who died on Sunday was an elderly woman from Karkala.

So far, 4,65,611 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 160,131 have received the second dose.

A total of 42 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 10 are currently active.
