Bengaluru, Jul 18: Karnataka on Sunday July 18 continued to maintain a steady rate in the number of new coronavirus cases, with the state recording 1,708 new infections.
As per the bulletin released by the state health department, the active cases in the state have dropped to 29,291, nearly half the number recorded in late June. Bengaluru Urban's single-day tally stands at 386 new cases, which is still the highest among all districts.
As many as 36 deaths due to coronavirus were reported in the state on Sunday, with Bengaluru Urban recording 9 deaths and Dakshina Kannada 6. With this, the toll so far has risen to 36,157.
The state recorded 2,463 discharges from hospitals, taking the total discharges so far to 28,18,476.
So far, Karnataka has seen 28,83,947 positive cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
The positivity rate for the day stands at 1.09%, while the case fatality rate for the day has dropped to 2.10%.
As many as 2,72,82,020 people have received vaccination so far.
