Doddaballapur, Jul 18: Minister for primary and secondary education Suresh Kumar on Sunday July 18 said that the decision on how and when the schools would be started will be taken in the first week of October.

The minister spoke to the scribes after inspecting the preparations for the SSLC examinations that will begin on Monday, July 19.

He further said, "SSLC examinations will be held in the state on July 19 and 22. The number of centres and rooms are increased compared to the last time.

"Last year 79,000 personnel were deployed for examination duty. This year the number is increased to 1.19 lac. This year instead of examination centres, we are arranging safety centers for children. Last year when the examinations were held the coronavirus infection percentage was 13.5. Now it is just 1.6. This year 8.76 lac students are going to write the SSLC examinations.

"Students will write examinations in 14,929 centres across the state. Suggestions are given to resolve issues, if any, under the leadership of BEOs. If any migrant students have issues they can contact BEO. There is no need to panic.

"Meeting of experts, parents and school teachers has been held with regard to the precautionary measures taken for the examinations. We have also taken permission from the health department. So there is no need for parents to feel concerned about the safety of their children," he said.

"Teachers will be transferred in three phases. Already 72,000 teachers have sought transfer. Opportunity is also given for new applicants. Once we receive all the applications, decision will be done on the transfers.

"Member of state cabinet are calling me and asking to provide seats for their children in government public schools. There are IAS officers also among these people. It is really heartening to note that government schools have grown up to this level. We have decided to increase the number of grades in all schools," Kumar said.
