Mangaluru: Strict security arrangements in place for Bakrid – Police commissioner

Mangaluru, Jul 17: “As a preventive measure and to avoid untoward incident on the eve of Bakrid, 25 check posts has been set up in under city police commissionerate,” said police commissioner N Shashi Kumar.

The police commissioner said, “Bakrid will be celebrated on July 21. Two check posts under every police station limits in city police commissionerate and also on the borders of Dakshina Kannada and Kerala and Udupi borders will be set up. Peace meeting has already been conducted under all police station limits and police bandobast has been made at religious places. As per the guidelines of the government, prayers at open places is restricted. We urge all devotees to strictly follow the government guidelines.

“Kerala and Mangaluru are interconnected as scores of people visit Mangaluru from Kerala. As many as seven check posts have been set up on the borders including Talapady. As per the directions of the district administration, travellers should possess a single-dose vaccination certificate or RT-PCR negative report. Further, we have set up screening at the check posts where there is rapid test and RT-PCR test,” he said.

    Mr. Commissioner, Please do not put restrictions on the fundamental rights of Muslims of Mangalore in celebrating Bakrid. Kindly allow them to ride bikes without helmets, allow three or four people to ride on a two wheeler, allow them to ride in opposite directions on one way streets, allow them to honk and create rukkus on the roads, allow them to block the traffic and pray on the road...as you have been doing always.

    Why no such police Bandobast and security arrangements during Hindu festivals why it’s only during Muslim festivals????….. is it to protect muslims during thier festivals or to protect who instigate any violance against muslims to disrupt Muslim festival??????……Is this going to be like police bandobast during farmers protest in Delhi where police presence was aiding and giving cover to BJP rioters???????….
