Udupi, Jul 16: MLA K Raghupathi Bhat on Friday, July 16 stated that like the proposed population control bill in Uttar Pradesh, he will also urge the Karnataka government and chief minister, BS Yediyurappa to table the population control bill in the next assembly session.
"We can turn India into a factory which supplies human resources to the world if we implement the 2-child policy in the country," MLA said.
He was speaking during the World Population Day programme organised by the district administration, health department and family welfare department, zilla panchayat, State Government Employees Association, Udupi SKDRDP held at Pragathi Souda here.
"In the proposed two-child policy of Uttar Pradesh and Assam government, if the family has more than two children, the family will be deprived of all government facilities. A bill that is close to Uniform Civil Code should be implemented in the state. We should take an oath of having only two children. The government should bring a law on population control," MLA opined.
Globally, India is known to have the largest youth population. We will have enough human resources in the two-child policy (Ondu Beku, Eradu Saku). There will be an economic imbalance in the family if the family has more than two children.
